At the beginning of the 2008, a beenext team started to study the possibility to develop of a technology that should help to answer to the still existing bottleneck in the organic synthesis process. The meaning of the project was to find a way to allow the organic chemist to improve its productivity without changing its way of working, its attitude.

MAKE IT SIMPLE – THE ARACHNO™ PROJECT

Arachno™ is a revolutionary technology that will help you to overcome bottlenecks in the organic synthesis process. If you are a synthetic organic chemist involved in daily bench work you can use Arachno™ in almost every moment of your research. The application of an Arachno joint make possible the stirring under inert atmosphere of up to six reaction vassel. The reaction mixtures could be cooled or heated and, by using a simple appropriate accessory, the six reaction mixtures could be concentrated to dryness avoiding the time consuming rotavapor step. The innovation inside this technology is that it does not introduce something different in the commune lab daily work, these joint are simply multiplayers that can be easily introduced in chemist lab life. The market price, comparable to consumable material, and the perfectly compatibility with all the glassware already present in the lab, made this tech a low cost “just do it” approach. During the design, the team carefully avoided all the high-tech solutions, both in terms of materials and procedures, that should increase the final price and so reduce the possibility of reach capillary diffusion. WHERE IS THE TRICK?

By using an Arachno™, it is possible the parallel stirring of up to six reaction mixtures. The reaction mixtures could be easily heated (depending from the solvent b.p. with or without condensers) as well cooled. Arachno™ acts as a exactly as a manifold allowing the connection of each vessel to a commune atmosphere. This could be an inert atmosphere, as nitrogen or argon, when reaction under driyng conditions are performed. When hydrogen is used, a catalytic hydrogenation should performed. At the opposite, if a vacuum source is applied, Arachno™ could be used to concentrate to dryness avoiding the time consuming multievaporation step.
